How does Absent/ Distant Healing work?

Absent or Distant healing works in the same way as Hands on Healing but without physical contact. Absent Healing provides an opportunity for someone to receive a treatment when face to face sessions are not possible.

Everybody has their own unique energy- often referred to as vibration or life force in many healing modalities such as Reiki, faith healing or spiritual healing. Healing is about connecting with this energy- and this works whether Hands On (ie face to face) or Absent.  It is quite simply a connection between two people and using energy or transference to allow a change to happen.

Distant Healing intention.

The intention or “topic” of each session is  predetermined by the client. There may be a particular challenge they are facing, a significant event in their life, or simply wanting to keep things moving forward for them. The practitioner’s intention is to support positive changes for the client’s highest and best intention. If someone has experienced shock, it can also be very beneficial to release the trauma and impact as quickly as possible after the event. In my experience, I have found Absent Healing to be very effective not only with adults, but with pets and children as well.

Absent/ Distance Healing techniques.

As previously mentioned, the practitioner can work at any time on a client without being face to face. The client may choose to lie down and relax somewhere while the treatment is taking place- but they can also be working or going about their day as usual! The client may experience warmth, tummy gurgling or tingling sensations while they are receiving the treatment. With Absent Healing, some practitioners may use a photo, a piece of Jewellery or a soft toy to help focus, connecting with the energy of the person while they are not physically present.

Time, Space and Matter.

There are cases where a client may have a stressful meeting or situation and Absent healing can be ‘programmed’ for the client to receive at a particular time and place to relieve stress and anxiety.

Does Absent/ Distant healing work?

As with anything, there has to be trust between client and practitioner, and a belief that it can work, as well as a willingness and openness to change. Without this, the benefits of Absent Healing can be completely blocked. In essence, it may not work for everyone because they don’t believe that things can change.

Distance healing benefits

  • For patterning/ particular challenges, results can be more subtle to start with, but the cumulation of change can be seen when looking back.
  • For relaxation, someone would just notice that they aren’t feeling as stressed as they used to be.
  • For shock and trauma situations, Absent/ Distant healing can be particularly useful to help relax and alleviate some of the stress
  • The client can receive it anywhere and in the comfort of their own home.
  • Short sessions can be great for people, animals, and children who may struggle to relax for more than a few minutes.
  • It can be sent to buildings, places and situations.
  • The benefits can be felt not just by the receiver but by others around them – if someone isn’t as stressed then that benefit ripples out to others.
